Today is the day we celebrate my babies 1st birthday! Gerald ended up finding out at one in the morning they had to all go into work, so I had to push the start time back. Which worked out great, because it gave me more time to finish everything. If I did not have my dad's help, I probably would not have gotten everything ready in time. I wanted to do something special for my baby on his very first birthday, so I decided to bake him a birthday cake from scratch. I have never in my life baked a cake not using a box cake, so I was a tad worried. I ended up getting a recipe from a friend, to make chocolate chip cookie dough filling, and it had the recipe for the cake as well. I am unsure why I was so worried, because the cake turned out delicious! Kaelin had such a great time, although he had no clue it was his birthday, he loved eating his first birthday cake, clapping, and seeing his new toys.
I made two cakes. One cake was for everybody, and the cake with the K, was just for Kaelin. My dad put together Kaelin's rocking horse he got him for his birthday. My dad sent this horse like two months ago, in hopes Gerald and I would put it together by Kaelin's birthday. That did not happen..lol Kaelin loves his horse though!
When it was time to sing happy birthday, I put Kaelin in his high chair, and put his birthday boy hat on that my mom got him. Behind him was a First Birthday board I made him. The board listed all of Kaelin's stats. It took me about two weeks to make, but it was something special I thought I'd do for my baby. Once we lite the candle and started singing to Kaelin, Kaelin was really confused. He started to cry while everyone sung to him. As soon as the birthday song was over, he stopped crying.
Kaelin was also confused when he was first able to put is hand in his cake. Once he did, it was a big mess to follow.
It made me happy that my baby loved the cake I made for him. Not only did he like it, but so did everyone else that came to the celebration.
Next it was time fore Kaelin to open his first birthday gifts. He had so many gifts too. Both his grandmas sent him birthday gifts, my dad sent him his birthday gifts two months in advance, I had friends send him birthday gifts, and we had gifts from friends that came to the celebration. Kaelin is truly loved! We sat Kaelin in his chair and turned Yo Gabba on, while he opened his gifts.
This toy Kaelin Loved! He did not want to let go of it, and I literally had to snatch it out his hands, which is on video.
The above photo is my mom on Skype on the laptop to watch Kaelin opening his gifts.Time to play with all your new toys...
Kaelin received this monsters talking toy. The monster is not what scared him, the monster opening his mouth is what did. Once the monster started talking, Kaelin started crying. It was too funny!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT MADE THIS DAY SPECIAL FOR MY BABY!
