At 39 weeks, four days before my due date (thursday), Kaelin finally
decided he was ready to meet the world.
Two days prior (Tuesday), I had my weekly check up. At that check up, I had dilated over
three centimeters, but was not quite a four yet. My doctor advised me that all I needed was the contractions
to start. As we returned home, I
was thinking about any and everything that would get my son out by his due
date, which was Monday December 3rd, six days away.
Throughout my entire pregnancy I did some form of exercise. As I got bigger, exercising turned into
walking three miles a day, along with some squats. Walking three miles takes me about an hour to do. Thinking about that, I told myself I
was going to walk for two hours straight.
Thursday morning I was exhausted.
I got minimal sleep the night before, and it was raining off and
on. When Gerald got done working
out I went to get my feet massaged, which I heard helps induce labor, and then
we went to the mall for a two-hour stroll. On our way home, we stopped at the store to buy some
chamomile tea. A couple of Spanish
women had told us in their culture it is believed that chamomile tea helps
naturally induce labor. I was not
really feeling it, but Gerald said we should try it, for the Spanish women be
fertile and know about having babies..lol!
Once we got home, I was exhausted. I went to lie down while Gerald started my tea. While lying down I felt the sudden urge
to pee, but for some reason I could not move my legs to get up, I texted Gerald
to come help me out of bed. As he
moved my legs slowly, and as I stood, I felt myself starting to pee. I wobbled to the bathroom for pee was
dripping down my leg. Before
approaching the bathroom, I took off my sweats and underwear because I could
not believe I was peeing on myself.
As soon as I dropped it all, the water was gushing out of me. It was extremely disgusting! I had Gerald call the hospital to make
sure I could shower. I did not
want to go to the hospital all dirty like that. Not to mention I had my hair in a bunch of slave braids, and
I had to take them all out before leaving. After my shower, and while doing my hair, my contractions
started. I thought it would feel
worse from stories people have told.
To me, it felt like period cramps and I would do my breathing techniques
that I learned; which made it all good.
The hospital was about 20 minutes away. I was able to get out the car and walk in to be admitted. At that time, my contractions were
about three minutes apart, and I was four centimeters dilated. Kaelin was well on his way!!!!
