A Letter to my Son (6mo)

Dearest Kaelin,

We have been in each other lives for six months now.  Some people may say six months is not that long, which they are correct.  But now that I finally have you in my life…I do not know how I lived my life without you.  Like I have told you in my previous letters to you, about how I have dreamed of becoming a mother.  Never would I have dreamed that becoming a mommy would be this amazing!  God has given me one of the greatest gifts in the world, and that gift is you!

Everyday that I see you smile, it makes me fall in-love with you all over again.  I just love the way you squinch your nose when you smile at me.  I love how you look at me and grab my face during feedings.  None of these precious times you will remember once you get older, but I am going to cherish these moments forever!

I call you Poodie, because you have had bad gas since birth.  You were just two weeks, and was pooting like your daddy.  I would say, “Ugh, you pooted, Poodie!”  After that, the nickname just fit you.  You still have bad gas too..just like your daddy!  You are the happiest when you are in my arms.  You get cranky if you are extremely sleepy.  You love fighting your sleep, instead of just going to sleep.  This is when you give everyone a hard time.  Bath time is one of your favorite times now.  You love splashing, and doing your best to drink the water.
Kaelin, you wont be able to read this for some time.  When you are able, I want you to know that I love you with all my heart.  Every morning when you awake, I give you a big kiss, with a good morning song I sing to you, and you smile so big at me.  I love to watch you watch your favorite show, Yo Gabba Gabba.  The very moment the show comes on, you smile, and giggle.  When Biz’s Beat of the Day comes on you scream with laughter.  It just warms my heart to see you light up with excitement.  Another memory I never want to forget in life!

I love you Kaelin, and I thank God he blessed me to have you as my son!

Mommy loves you, never forget!!!!!!

1st Annual Family/Friends Day

Sunday, our family had a family and friend’s potluck, and kickball game.  It was extremely fun!  When I first started planning it in April, I was not sure how it would turn out.  I originally wanted a softball game, but Gerald thought kickball would be easier.  We had thought it would be funny to see all the older out-of-shape people participate in the game.  Everyone had such a great time, and I cannot wait until next year!  I have already started thinking of ways to make the next get together even more amazing.

Until next time... FAMILY DAY 2014

P.S.  The A-Team won the softball game.  Congrats to you all!

My 1st Mother's Day

Becoming a mother is a remarkable experience.  I never knew just how remarkable motherhood could be, until I became a mother myself.  Every single moment of motherhood is a blessing, and I will forever cherish it.

Unfortunately, Gerald was unable to spend this special day with me, but we will have a lifetime more of mother’s day to spend together.  Thank God, I at least had my son to spend it with.  We celebrated by taking Mother’s Day pictures together.

I have always cherished my mommy, but after becoming a mommy myself, I cherish her that much more.  Becoming a mother has helped me to remember things I may have used to do without really remembering it.  For instance, how I use to look into my mother’s eyes, or grab her finger while she held me, or how I smiled when I would see her face, and so much more.  Those are the moments I live for nowadays!  Those are the moments that brighten my day when I see Kaelin do it.  I know those moments are things I will only remember, just like my mom only remembers how it was with me.  But those moments mean the world to a mother…
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO EVERY MOMMY..OLD, NEW, & ABOUT TO BECOME!!

Kaelin's Nursery

I remember when Gerald and I first started the nursery; I was thrilled to get started on my son’s room.  It was our first time having a painting project together.  Gerald did most of the painting, and I came up with the room layout.  Our parents all took part in helping put the room together as well.  My father purchased Kaelin’s crib for us.  Gerald’s father came and helped Gerald put it together. My mom purchased Kaelin’s changing table, and made his curtains for the room.  Gerald’s mom purchased. Kaelin’s mattress, and also helped with hanging and moving things in the room.  Everything in the room came out just perfect for Kaelin, and I was extremely grateful for all the help everyone gave us!

Kaelin's 1st Kiss

Saturday, April 27th at Tatum's birthday party, Kaelin had his first kiss.  His first kiss was from Niya, Tatum' little cousin.  I just knew when Niya was still in her mommy's tummy, that her and my son would probably have a little love thing lol.  It was the cutest little thing.  I am sure once Kaelin gets older, I will not think him kissing girls is cute.  Until then, let me enjoy the cuteness!

She's 3

April 27th, Tatum turned 3 years old.  Just last year Gerald and I was helping her Nana decorate for her 2nd birthday party, and now she is 3.  I am sure I will be shocked every year she gets older, but I just cannot help it!  Time really does fly!

The day after Tatum's birthday, Tatum got Christened at her church.

May 22nd

If anyone has ever been to my dad's house.  He has like no photos in his home.  So for his birthday, we decided to take him t take family photos, so we could get some pictures on his wall.  Happy Birthday Daddy!  Now you have no excuse not to get some photos on the wall.

March

The last two months have been crazy for me!  Just when I had time to finally catch the blog up, I ended  up cracking the screen on my laptop.  Now that I have it back I can work on catching up.

Wednesday, March 6th...
Kaelin started his first day of swimming lessons.  I am sure you probably have this look o your face like..."why des she have her three month old baby swimming?"  Well, it is because..
1.) It is best to start your child off young.  At infant age, they love water.
2.) The later you start, the harder it is to get them back use to water.  Have you ever seen a five year old stat swimming lessons, and cry every time the water hits their eyes?
3.)  It is never to soon to learn swim safe skills to protect your child from drowning!!!!!!

On Kaelin's first day, his teacher explained that we will spend the next couple weeks getting Kaelin use to the water.  We sing sons about kicking your feet, we flip Kaelin on his back to start teaching him how to float, and the coolest thing is when he goes under water and holds his breath.  Up until five months, infants still have the reflux to know to hold their breath under water.  right before Kaelin goes under, I count to three, then blow right under his nose.  He instantly holds his breath, and we go under the water and right back up.

Two weeks later, Gerald was back in town and was able to participate in swimming lessons with his son.
