On our way to FL |
I was extremely nervous about how Kaelin would do in the air. Nobody wants to be the one that has "that" baby who cries the entire time on a flight. Thank God, Kaelin was not "that" baby! Kaelin was actually a great baby! Especially with it being his first flight, he did very good! Days before our flight, I did research on infants flying. Many of the tips was to give your child some type of drowsy medication, and to feed your baby during take off. The feeding would help with the popping of the ears. Me personally, I do not like giving my son medication so young unless it is needed. I would rather first try alternative methods before turning to the medication. In this situation, it was not needed. When the doors were shut right before take off, I started to feed Kaelin. In a matter of five minutes he was out! The plane had not even took off yet. I was nervous not knowing how his ears would do, so I had to wake him up. Oh, Kaelin did not like that! He would get fussy until I left him alone. I was telling Kaelin, "you have to eat, come on eat!" He finally ate for another five minutes. Just enough for take off, and then he was out again. He slept the entire nonstop flight to Florida. I was such a happy and proud mommy! On the flight home, he did the exact same thing. Prayerfully, he will be this way with all the flights he takes in the future.

Kaelin and I flew to Florida for the NFL's annual PAO conference. This conference is a ministry conference the NFL gives for the players and their souses, and it is always amazing! The first conference that Gerald and I attended two years ago, changed our lives for the better. Unfortunately, Gerald could not attend this year due to his new job. Luckily I had another little boy that could come with me and take his place. It was nice to fellowship and see my NFL family. I was blessed to have Kaelin's God-dad there to help me with him, and also blessed that Kaelin's grandma was able to fly down and be the babysitter whenever I had workshops to attend.

PS. Do NOT put coco butter on your hands before a flight. Due to the fact I was carrying Kaelin, TSA had me walk through, and then they tested my hands. I could tell there was a problem, because they took my test to a second machine. That is when I was told I had to be pat down, for my hands had alerted them. Kaelin and I went to a private room, and in that room they gave me an intensive pat down. I am sure the lady got off to patting me down. lol..I kid! But it was crazy that happened due to coco butter.
